Radiological and Nuclear Consulting
I began consulting in 1995, after receiving my certification in health physics, and worked as Manager of
Radiological Services for the no-defunct R&R International Inc. Most of my consulting work has been in the
areas of licensing, program audits, short course development, site characterization and remediation, and
radiological security.
Some of the areas in which I have consulted are summarized below
Radiological Terrorism Education and Preparation - various clients
- Developed three fact sheet sets on radiological terrorism, aimed at the general public, emergency responders, and medical professionals.
- Wrote a primer on radiological terrorism aimed at medical professionals
- Developed Radiological Health and Safety Plan for routine operations and radiological emergencies
- Developed and presented radiological emergency response training for emergency responders
- Conducted radiological materials security inspections and audits, recommended corrective actions
Radioactive Materials Licensing and Audits
- Clients include R&D, industrial manufacturing, mineral extraction, medical, and jewelry importation
- Developed radioactive materials license application documents for 12 companies seeking licensure
- Developed radiation and radioactive materials policy and procedure manual
- Developed radiation worker qualification and training programs
- Conducted audits for regulatory compliance, and best practices
Site characterization and remediation
- Developed and implemented site characterization plans for investigations of both industrial facilities and contaminated sites
- Conducted radiological surveys for radioactive materials and radiological contamination
- Developed and implemented sampling plans to support characterization and remediation
- Project Manager and/or site supervisor for site characterization and remediation projects in New York, Ohio, Illinois, and Maryland
